CASE STUDY
Dena Silliman Nielson
Website and Graphic Design for a
Divorce Lawyer and New Author
Client Overview:
The client is a divorce lawyer who recently published her book, Common Sense Divorce, which guides readers through divorce while saving time, money, and worry. She sought a website, social media presence, and additional digital marketing materials to promote her new book. Marketing Influence, a digital marketing firm, collaborated with Solazzo Designs to develop a comprehensive digital promotion plan for the client.
Objectives:
The project aimed to create a digital promotion plan encompassing a new website, digital graphic design elements, email marketing strategy, and a social media plan. Additional deliverables included marketing materials such as digital downloads, a speaker sheet, and mockups of the book cover.
Process:
To begin the process, we conducted a discovery session with the client, and Marketing Influence, to understand the client’s vision, goals, and brand identity. During the discovery session, we discussed the client’s new book, services, and ideal target audience, along with her design preferences for colors, fonts, and style. Based on this information, we developed a brand guidebook outlining color palettes, typography, and design elements.
For the web design and development, Marketing Influence provided the copy and strategy, while Solazzo Designs implemented the website design. The client hoped to eventually update this website herself, so we chose a user-friendly Squarespace template that would be simple for the client to manage and navigate for future updates.
Key features of the website included:
Homepage: Highlighted the book, author information, book reviews, and resources for the audience.
Book Page: Included detailed information and purchase links.
Reviews Page: Featured testimonials and feedback from readers, showcasing the book’s impact and credibility.
Resources Page: Provided valuable tools, guides, and links to support the audience in navigating divorce and its challenges.
Blog Section: Allowed the client to publish articles related to divorce, offering insights, advice, and a personal connection to readers.
Contact Page: Enabled users to easily reach out to the author for inquiries, feedback, or speaking engagements, fostering engagement and accessibility
In addition to the website, we developed professional marketing materials for the client using InDesign and Canva. This included designing a digital e-book offered as a free resource for website visitors. The e-book was strategically crafted to help the client grow their contact list through form submissions on the homepage. To ensure brand consistency, the e-book was designed in alignment with the brand guide, featuring cohesive color palettes, fonts, and graphics.
We also created a professionally designed speaker sheet showcasing the client’s headshot, bio, book details, and speaking topics. To maintain a cohesive brand identity, the speaker sheet was thoughtfully crafted to align with the brand guide, website, and other marketing materials.

We designed versatile mockups of the client’s book cover, tailored for use across the website, social media, and promotional emails. These mockups were created to enhance the book’s visibility, generate excitement, and drive interest among the target audience.
Results:
The client was extremely satisfied with the project’s outcome. The visually appealing and user-friendly website effectively promoted her book and services. The cohesive marketing materials successfully captured attention, driving increased interest in her book and business. As a result, the client experienced positive feedback from website visitors, a noticeable boost in book sales, and a rise in client inquiries.
Conclusion:
Solazzo Designs delivered impactful web and graphic design services to promote the client’s book, Common Sense Divorce. The success of the project was reflected in increased book sales and inquiries, with both Marketing Influence and Solazzo Designs providing ongoing support. This collaboration underscores the value of cohesive branding and strategic design in achieving the client’s promotional goals.
